It took me ages to realise that lots of the novels I liked were written by the same woman, but under different pseudonyms. Thanks for your insightful comments about age groups, Carol, and I'm glad you are enjoying it!Deborah Swifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17006077873037462291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19307003.post-78704532846269257892014-08-28T09:01:18.282-05:002014-08-28T09:01:18.282-05:00I am currently reading it with a view to reviewing...I am currently reading it with a view to reviewing it. I absolutely love it though there was one spoiler above. Ok since this article is directed at the adult audience . I think the reveal come up very soon as I am half way in, almost. Lady Katherine is a great heroine. This is a period I love and studied. I was passionate about it myself as a young adult devouring books by Jane Lane. So good luck with the new YA venture. This novel is as always excellent. I taught history at High School level. It works for the 12 to 14 year olds I suspect, maybe 15 at a push. Verdict so far. And for adults great fun.Carol McGrathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11072696398820339640noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19307003.post-62281565451963309012014-08-27T19:08:56.202-05:002014-08-27T19:08:56.202-05:00I'm glad you mentioned Victoria Holt because s...I'm glad you mentioned Victoria Holt because she was a favorite writer of mine when I was a teenager too. I read through all of hers in high school, then her Philippa Carr novels, then Jean Plaidy - which got me hooked on historical fiction about royalty.Sarah Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13340312953393474963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19307003.post-3635613405389641812014-08-27T09:51:55.331-05:002014-08-27T09:51:55.331-05:00Great guest post. When I was a pre-teen and a young teen, my love for historical fiction developed because of my love for fairy tale retellings, most of which have a historical setting. Then in ninth grade, when I picked up a Victoria Holt novel in my school library that was about Marie Antoinette did I started reading straightforward historical fiction.Lauralee https://www.blogger.com/profile/14390056395943760008noreply@blogger.com
