It is more leisurely paced than most YA fiction, however. If he enjoys reading fantasy novels, this one might appeal. The style is reminiscent of early Charles de Lint, though it's definitely historical fiction.<br /><br />Susan, I think you would like it! I'm reading Traitor's Wife now (and enjoying it a lot!) and it takes place about a generation beforehand.
